annual fund
In September of each year, St. John’s School embarks upon its annual fund campaign. The goal is to raise $30,000 or in pledges in three months with payments due by June 30 of the following year. The campaign takes place by direct solicitations. Monies raised during the annual fund campaign go to support financial aid and special budget items such as technology. Every effort is made to reach all current parents by phone, grandparents by mail, alumni by mail, and staff by mail, friends by mail and by telephone/personal contact. A list of local employers is available listing those that match employee contributions to independent schools.
Why does the school need annual gift income? There is nothing unusual about our annual fund campaign. All independent schools raise money beyond what they receive in tuition. St John’s has been doing it through the years. It makes more sense, financially-speaking, to provide for St. John’s School through tax-deductible donations rather than tuition.
Those contributing to the fund are recognized during the campaign and in an annual report of gifts that is sent to the entire school community when we launch the next campaign. There is a recognition event for those contributing to the higher giving clubs.
