STRATEGIC GOALS
Tasks we will undertake over the next three years

1. IMPROVE THE FINANCIAL HEALTH OF THE SCHOOL

    • Increase overall enrollment but not exceed a class size of 20
    • Improve preschool retention
    • Secure loans that will enable construction to begin on the new facility
    • Launch a capital campaign for the new facility

    2. DEVELOP A DETAILED PLAN TO ACCOMPLISH THE MOVE TO WESTPARK

    • Fully explore temporary new locations in WestPark for the 2007-2008 school year
    • Continue to work with the architects, city planning department, contractor on the new permanent facility
    • Shift mindset at all levels (board, school leadership, faculty, parents, and the broader community from a cautious “waiting to move” to a determined “planning to move”

3. ACQUIRE AND RETAIN THE STAFF WE WANT

  • Form a Board sub-committee to review and make recommendations regarding faculty compensation and benefits
  • Strategize the development of a profile of highly qualified faculty
4. PERFORM A HIGH SCHOOL FEASIBILITY STUDY TO BE COMPLETED BY DECEMBER 31, 2007
    • Involve the broader community in the study

5. PROCEED WITH APPLICATION FOR ACCREDITATION BY WASC/CAIS

6. IMPROVE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION AND MARKETTING

  • Communicate to the current school family how the move to WestPark will be accomplished financially
  • Broaden the core group of committed St. John’s families by validating the decision they have made to enroll at the school
  • Enhance the appearance, utility and marketing appeal of the school’s Web site
  • Communicate the job-responsibilities of the administrators and recommend who to contact at the school
  • Become more informed about our competition

7. ASSESS STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES AND OFFERINGS WITHIN THE SCHOOL PROGRAM

  • Perform a longitudinal review of student progress as shown by standardized testing
  • Consider establishing an honors program
  • Explore opportunities for more arts and technology programs
  • Explore a counseling/resources program drawing upon community volunteers
  • Develop a resource list
